Stephanie Swoodson of SwoodsonSays  is planning another round of Try Something New Every Month, this year with Rebecca from Hugs Are Fun as a co-host! She says, “We’ve revamped a little, with broad themes for each month, a Facebook group, and an easy way to link-up what you have tried for that month. All the details are here. It’s a fun thing for anyone who has a blog but isn’t quite sure what to blog about, or is looking to connect with a new audience.”

Mandy Leins is excited to announce that starting in 2016 she’s been hired to blog for Modern Quilts Unlimited twice a week. “I’ll be writing about a number of different things, and am looking forward to seeing what we can do!” she says.

Janet Perry of Napa Needlepoint would like to announce that the third edition of their popular book, Needlepoint Trade Secrets, has just come out. It has been called an “essential part of every stitcher’s toolkit.” This edition is almost twice the size with over 200 pages of tips for every needleworker. Retail price is $21.95. It is available from Amazon. If you would like copies for resale or bulk coppies, please email me at napaneedlepoint at gmail dot com.

Riin has some exciting news. She says, “I started my yarn and fiber business, Happy Fuzzy Yarn, almost 10 years ago. At first it was a hobby business, retail only, online sales only. Fast forward to now and it’s my full time job, I have employees, our sales are almost all wholesale (we’re in almost 100 yarn shops), we do 4 retail shows a year, and just a smattering of online retail sales. A lot of yarn store owners will not buy from dyers who sell online. For the last few years I’ve felt that I wanted to go wholesale but couldn’t afford to drop the retail sales. Then it dawned on me that if I dropped the online sales, the wholesale income I would gain would exceed the retail income lost. So I made an announcement that Jan. 15 will be the last day for online retail orders. Woot!” Congrats, Riin!

Eileen Hull is looking to teach in your area. She says, “I’m a licensed designer in the craft industry. Since 2013, I have been I travel teaching throughout the country in my vintage camper Scotty. In January, I will be driving the trailer onto the Craft & Hobby Association trade show floor to display my latest products and promote my brand! I will be driving back from California to Virginia and am looking for independent craft stores to teach in on the way home (taking the southern route). Any suggestions? Please follow the Paper Trail at Eileen Hull Designs on FB and EileenHull on IG. Happy to join the CIA and look forward to meeting you here!”

Janet Lutz has some news to report about an exciting upcoming event: Row by Row Experience is helping to promote Pantie Raid 2016 through a social media marketing campaign. All quilt shops around the world are invited to register and participate in this very worthwhile event taking place January 15-23. 2016. Registered shops partner with local women’s shelters and become a collection center for new packages of underwear, socks, etc for women and children. All registered shops will be listed in the Pantie Raid section of the Row by Row Experience website. All customers who donate will receive a fat quarter from the shop as a thank you for their generosity. Shops interested in registering may click here to read the invitation.

And finally some news from Allie Aller who reports, “I will be substituting for Mark Lipinski at the Quilters’ Winterfest in Frankenmuth, Michigan Feb 4-6 with a lecture, trunk show of my crazy quilts, and an all day workshop. This event is being hosted by a local quilt shop, Sisters in Quilting, of Marlette, Michigan (in the thumb area.) There will be other teachers and vendors and the hope is that lots of regional quilters will enjoy the 3 day getaway–especially over Superbowl week-end.”
