Book Editing and Content Editing for Creatives
Even the best writing needs some gentle mending! I help makers who write about crafts and creativity inspire their readers. Whether you’re writing craft books, magazine articles, or website content, I’m here to amplify your voice as a trusted teacher and make sure your instructions are clear and easy to follow.
I’m a professional freelance editor with experience editing for publishers, magazines, and independent makers. I earned a certificate in copyediting from the University of San Diego, and my clients include Storey Publishing, Page Street Publishing, Princeton Architectural Press, and Strawberry Moon Magazine, among others.
What does editing involve?
I can help you organize your ideas on the page and improve the flow of your writing, make instructions easier for your readers to follow, reduce distractions and inconsistencies, clean up grammar and spelling errors, and catch design and layout issues.
Are you a tech editor?
I’m not a tech editor, and for highly technical patterns I always recommend tech editing as a separate process! But part of the editing process is looking for consistency throughout a project or piece of writing, and I often catch things that are overlooked.
Why craft writing?
In addition to being an editor, I’m a lifelong crafter who loves knitting, sewing, quilting, bookbinding, stamp carving, and dabbling in whatever I can get my hands on. I love the world of craft, so I love editing craft writing and supporting makers!
