Call for submissions for Issue 5 of Strawberry Moon Magazine
Strawberry Moon Magazine is an independent magazine focused on artists and their art journals. Issue 5 is now open for submissions. The theme of this issue is Self Care.
At this time, I am open for submissions of article proposals, as well as images for the galleries.
Article proposals will ideally be focussed on how you use your art journaling practice to care for yourself. This can be interpreted very loosely–what does self care mean to YOU. I am looking for a variety of perspectives and styles for this issue. I would love to see a mix of tutorials and stories.
My wish list includes things like:
- Tutorial in which you explain a technique that you use in your art journal to process big emotions.
- Journaling prompts.
- A story about a specific art journaling spread and how it relates to your self care rituals.
- An interview or collaboration with another artist. You can refer to issue 4 for ideas about how artists worked together to write their article as a conversation.
- Book report of a publication that you have found useful in your art practice.
Please don’t feel constrained by my list. These are just ideas to get you thinking about what you might write about.
The deadline for proposals is January 2, 2023. I will respond to all submissions by January 9 and the final deadline for articles and artwork is January 30, 2023.
Each issue of the magazine includes a number of themed galleries in addition to a general “anything goes” gallery. Themes for this issue are: junk journaling, minimalism, monoprinting, and illustrate your life. Deadline is January 30, 2023.
