Call for Submissions for Issue 8 - Campfire - now open!
Our latest Call for Submissions for Issue 8 of Making Stories Magazine is now open! Deadline is August 23, and for Issue 8, we’re looking for knitting patterns, essays and illustrations for the theme Campfire:
For Issue 8, we’re inviting you to settle down with us in a little clearing in a fall forest, a warm cup of freshly brewed coffee in your hands, and stretch out your feet towards a crackling, sparking campfire.
Watching the flames dance, the smoke disappear into the canopy, the sparks fly, we’re sinking into the warmth and coziness of this fleeting moment.
Breathing in, breathing out, we’re becoming aware of the neverending interplay of forest and fire and ash, flames and rebirth and smoke, us and nature.
For this issue, we’re looking to include 1-2 pairs of socks, 1-2 neck accessories, 1-2 hats, 1 pair of (fingerless) mittens and 3-4 sweaters (pullovers & cardigans).
In terms of complexity, we’re looking for patterns in the full range from beginner to super advanced knitter. Most of the designs will be paired with one of our yarn partners, but if you have an idea for a stash-busting project, we’re always game!
You can see our full Call for Submissions including our mood board and details on compensation and rights here!
For Issue 8, we’re working with you as our designers on the following timeline:
Submission Deadline: August 23, 11.59pm CET
Decision & Feedback: August 24 – 26
Pattern Due: December 3
Sample Due: February 8
Launch: September 2022
COMPENSATION & RIGHTS
We here at Making Stories will take care of yarn support for your design. We’ll also handle tech editing, test knitting, photography, layout and errata updates for you. Compensation for your pattern is based on complexity and ranges from € 100 to € 550. We’ll reimburse sample shipping cost (from your location to Berlin) up to €10 for domestic shipping and €35 for international shipping.
