Do you love sewing and quilting? Are you great at math? C&T Publishing, an established quilt and soft crafts book publisher, is looking for freelance Technical Editors. 

The ideal candidate is an experienced quilter/crafter with an eye for detail who has the math abilities to calculate cut/finished sizes and yardages for all pieces/blocks/borders/fabrics in a project. Candidates will be asked to complete 2 quilting technical editing tests. Computer experience is necessary (we use Google Suite including docs and sheets).

Job Responsibilities:

Perform full technical edits on contracted books, including: 

  • Verify that all numbers (dimensions, yardages, cut/finished sizes, etc.) in the text are accurate and nothing is omitted
  • Give illustration and photo counts to Project Manager in Request for Quotes (RFQs) format
  • Edit manuscripts to ensure that all project/process instructions are complete, correct, consistent, and reader-friendly, including: general how-to, materials and cutting lists, step-by-step instructions, templates, illustrations, and photos
  • Prepare illustrations for the Illustrator; review, and edit illustrations
  • Review how-to models and snapshots for final photography
  • Update Google Sheet image log for all illustrations and how-to photos
  • Work with Author, Illustrator, Photographer, and Editor regarding suggested additions, deletions, or changes to the manuscript, photos, or illustrations
  • Review rounds, processing Author feedback and providing feedback for Designer if contracted to do so.
