Whether you simply need another set of eyes to proofread patterns, or someone to help take a designer’s original concept through to the final pattern, no job is too big or too small.
With over 20 years experience in technical editing, I’ve worked with both small and large clients, from indie designers to yarn companies to large publishers. Projects have included tech editing everything from single patterns to seasonal collections to full books’ worth of patterns.
Services include:
- Technical interpretation of the designer’s original ideas to develop working patterns for the sample knitter.
- Grading additional sizes in the pattern.
- Creating charts and measurement diagrams using Illustrator (files saved as either .eps or .jpeg depending on client’s needs).
- Technical editing the pattern to make sure the instructions are accurate and the numbers add up, as well as making sure the pattern conforms to your pattern style.
- Calculating yarn amounts.
- Converting imperial measurements to metric, and vice versa.
- Help developing a pattern style for new-to-self-publishing designers.
- Help cleaning up English translations from other languages.
- Counter-tech editing and proofreading patterns.
