I don’t use SumoMe, but I do use HelloBar and know a lot of other people who do too (including @abbycia, right?). I’ve liked it a lot — it’s free and has A/B testing and some good functionality without having to upgrade to extra features, though those are available too.

Just a heads up that I’ll have an article out in the next CIA issue about sponsoring/working with blogs. I can definitely see how the ROI might not be awesome for ads, but there are other content-based sponsorship opportunities that benefit both bloggers and businesses. Stay tuned! 😉

As in many aspects of business, you *could* do it all yourself, but you don’t have to, and sometimes it’s better for your productivity, final product, and mental health if you don’t. I’ve found that’s really helpful to have a monthly calendar. I blog once per week and if I can plan it out in advance it really helps me come up with good ideas and work toward posts that might involve a bit of pre-planning (like pattern reviews or interviews/profiles). The upside is that better quality posts yield better traffic, too.

I do know that many pattern books have similar statements in their front matter near the copyright information. Often they address copy shops directly, as in “COPY SHOPS:” How’s that for clear? 🙂 If you have any lying around, they might be a good place to start for good legal wording.
