Bio

Hi, I’m Jackie Rogers, a textile artist. It all started in Chicago where I am originally from. A group of lady coworkers and I would gather in the lunchroom daily to knit or crochet. I learned to do both but was drawn closer to knitting. We swapped stories and techniques about the craft and the day’s events, and this became our therapy. I bought yarn almost every week and made quick scarves and began mixing different yarn types to create new textures. During that time, I was reading a book called “One Simple Idea” by Stephen Key. This book is for anyone who wants to get their ideas and inventions off the ground and become an entrepreneur. After reading this book, I was inspired to invent a product called Kneedle Pet and my company called Needling Around, Inc.
My product at that time was a foam shaped fish and sheep to hold knitting and crochet needles when not in use. In 2010 – 2012, my product was featured in Crochet Magazine, Knit Simple and Piecework Magazine just to name a few as one of the hottest new products. I began receiving orders and was extremely excited. This led me to attend art & craft shows where I learned about new textile arts like needle felting.

I attended a “How to Needle Felt” workshop which piqued the fiber artist in me. Needle felting is the process of stabbing wool fibers with a barbed needle. The barbs catch the scales on the fiber and cause them to bind together to create a firm shape.
I began working with wool and felting needles to create three dimensional sculptors such as birds, pumpkins with faces and wool landscapes. I am part of a local artist co-op where artist sell their artwork in downtown Springfield, Il.
