On April 7 PayPal released an update to its user agreement that changed how the company handles refunds. The new policy, which goes into effect on May 7, will significantly impact ecommerce sellers who use PayPal to process credit card transactions.
Etsy sellers will have to begin using the new Etsy Payments platform by May 17, 2017 or their selling privileges will be revoked. Etsy Payments is an updated version of what was formerly called Direct Checkout which allows shoppers to enter their credit card information when buying an item rather than having to use PayPal. Some sellers have expressed concern about the switch.
