The Amiga Fund- Connecting struggling handmade businesses with supportive donors.

Sponsorship/advertising opportunity / by Rachel Biel

Artizan Made is a marketing collective that supports studio artists, fair traders and ethical vintage.  Our focus is on functional work:  home décor and eco fashion.  Members must have an online shop and operate as a business.  About half of our members are on Etsy and the other half have their own sites.  We are especially interested in supporting those who focus on sustainability, using non-toxic and renewable materials and upcycling. Members are vetted in based on the quality of their products, originality and how they fit into the larger group.  Members:  https://www.artizanmade.com/member-profiles/

We import 50 products from the member’s shop, adding them to our Market: https://www.artizanmade.com/market/    Instead of selling those products, we link them back to the member’s shop.  And, we promote those products on our website and on social media.

The initial membership fees cost $280 which covers setting up the profile and market products.  This takes about 10 hours to do.  We have found that many handmade businesses have struggled a great deal, especially since the Covid outbreak and cannot afford that investment.  The basic membership fee is $130/year or $12.50/month.  We realized that there are seasoned artists and supporters out there who can help give these businesses a boost by paying for their first year fees.  After that year, the hope is that they will be able to afford the $12.50/month.

We now have three new members from Ukraine and one from Israel who have benefitted from this fund.  (The photos are theirs.)  We are looking for more people who would like to donate as well as applicants who would like to be a part of Artizan Made.

“Do not stop thinking of life as an adventure. You have no security unless you can live bravely, excitingly, imaginatively; unless you can choose a challenge instead of competence.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt

“Life is short and we have never too much time for gladdening the hearts of those who are traveling the dark journey with us. Oh, be swift to love, make haste to be kind.”
