Today I spoke with Jonathan Marcus, the founder and CEO of Goodsie.
Jonathan got in touch with me after I wrote this post about whether handmade businesses should have their own online storefronts or are better off sticking with Etsy. I’ve had my eye on Goodsie for some time now because it offers an accessible way for a small business like mine to create a sophisticated online storefront for an affordable price.
Goodsie has some impressive features.
For the basic subscription price of $15/month ($180/year) your shop can have:
- a customized shop that looks like your brand and includes your custom domain name
- digital fulfillment with no storage limits (for selling digital product like PDFs and eBooks)
- the ability to also create a Facebook storefront.
With the premium subscription of $40/month ($480/year) you also get:
- the ability to create targeted email marketing based on customer e-commerce order
history purchase amount and geography - detailed sales analytics.
Here are a few examples of online storefronts softie makers have created using Goodsie:
And this one isn’t a softie maker, but these bags are so unbelievably cool I had to include it:
Jonathan founded Goodsie in 2011 as a way of bringing ecommerce to the masses. We talked for about 20 minutes about what he feels sets Goodsie apart from other online storefront makers and who he envisions as Goodsie’s ideal customer. I hope you enjoy our conversation and if you have further questions or ideas for Jonathan please leave a comment here and he’ll reply.

Hi abby,
I really like your posts from the last months, you are investigating everything I am interested in. How I can make my plush monster business profitable.
I like that you look for people who are ahead in some aspects, like product manufactoring, writing good blogs and your teaching stories. I have noticed it truly makes a difference to see myself more as a professional. Thank you for all the very helpful posts and taking us along through all your lessons learned.
Thank you so much for this! It really means a lot to me to know that there are other people who are also interested in learning about these topics. If you have any suggestions for future posts, I'm all ears! Keep in touch.

Abby – Thank you for this podcast. I have an additional online presence on Weebly platform, but it just routes people to my Etsy store. I will be looking at Goodsie as an option to take my business to the next level.
Jonathan – Your down to earth approach, and you innovative solutions for Etsy sellers has me intrigued. Thanks for taking the time to carefully explain the features you offer at Goodsie.
